Swee'Pea

I didn't remember having ever heard Swee'Pea described as Popeye's nephew before. Wikipedia describes him as "Popeye's ward in the comic strips, but he is often depicted as belonging to Olive Oyl in cartoons".

I did however find a reference elsewhere on Wikipedia, according to which "in the King Features cartoons [syndicated comic strips] of the early 1960s, it is implied that Swee'Pea is Popeye's nephew".

Further down the same page, we read that Swee'Pea is Olive's cousin in the cartoons.

Swee'Pea originally came into Popeye's life in 1933, when he was delivered to his doorstep in the mail. Before Swee'Pea himself appeared, "Sweet Pea" was a term of affection that Popeye used to address Olive Oyl.
